Ms Zeno The Mojo Queen with Little G Weevil & His Band – Memphis Blues Reunion

Kapunyitás: 19:00

Main Hall

Ms Zeno The Mojo Queen is Verlinda Zeno, a Memphis staple for the last 30 years. Discovered by Little Milton in Natchioches, Louisiana in 1989, she joined him in Memphis as a backup singer. Albert King introduced her to Beale Street. She was the first house band when BB King’s club opened on Beale. 2,000 shows and 30 years later she is still going strong, earning the legendary title as one of the purest female blues singers in the music business, who never gave up her artistic independence. Her humorous, direct and often quite sexually charged performance style is free from any commercial frills, evokes the golden age of the blues, reminding the audience of where this genre began its journey to conquer the world.
Mojo Queen has traveled all over the globe and shared the stage with greats like Bo Diddley, Little Milton, Leon Russell, Albert King, Ann Peebles, Johnny Winter, Isaac Hayes, B. B. King and many more.
She has received national and international media coverage from NBC`s Nightly News to Good Morning America, from the Washington Post to Commercial Appeal. She has also appeared in the movie “Innerstate”, singing one for her original compositions “Love Denied”.
Her album “Back In Love” has been nominated for a 2019 Blues Blast Music Award in the ’Soul Blues Album of the Year’ category!

Little G Weevil is a Hungarian-born blues singer, songwriter and guitar player, the winner of the 2013 International Blues Challenge (being held in Memphis). He was nominated for USA Blues Music Awards in 2014. Gee has 9 albums under his belt. His „Moving” release was ranked No. 3 ’Best Blues Album of the Year’ by the England based MOJO music magazine. His last release to date ’If I May…’ topped the Roots Music Report Global Blues Radio Airplay Chart in 2023.
Mojo Queen and Little G Weevil met in 2005 when Gee moved to Memphis. Their joint production began at the legendary Blues City Cafe on Beale Street. Within a few months, they became the weekend headliners. Why? You will see at this show because Mojo and Gee will pull out their Beale Street repertoire to knock your socks off!
Guaranteed good time for Memphis soul, blues and funk lovers!
